I too will never forget, and being a teacher, my students and players that I coach sometimes ask what that bracelet if for...I tell them, and I have a page printed out in my classroom about Captain John Fischer (Ladder 20) that lets them know a little but about who he was. It brings this tragedy a little closer to them, and it is not so abstract...A great idea to never forget this tragedy...

This could all be a big coincidence: A Worthington woman receives a bracelet stamped with a name she has never heard from a man she doesn't know, then passes it on to a man she has just met -- someone who happens to know the name and the people for whom the bracelet was meant. But like the thousands of other connections made in the painful days since Sept. 11, the people who know the story of the bracelet say there's nothing haphazard about it. "We're talking really metaphysical weird,'' said Gustavo Hoefs, 44, the Worthington artist who made the bracelet. "There is a God.'' The bracelet was stamped: "Deputy Chief Ray Downey; FDNY; Deer Park, N.Y.'' Hoefs made it and hundreds of other stainless-steel bands to memorialize those who died in the terrorist attack. He passed them out whenever he felt the notion -- Grant Medical Center got a stack and so did St. John's Episcopal Church in Worthington. From the beginning, Hoefs wanted the bracelets to reach the families of the victims, but he didn't know how to go about it. So when he passed out his bracelets, he told the receivers to pass them to people to whom they felt connected. Eventually, with enough connecting, those bracelets could end up in the right hands, he figured. "I wanted them all to get home,'' Hoefs said. Julie Shaffer, a legal secretary from Worthington, got one from the St. John's batch shortly after the attack. She's not a member, and not particularly religious, but she saw on a television news program that the church was making a relief trip to New York on Sept. 30. "I just wanted to help any way I could,'' she said. Shaffer, 34, and nine others took the trip. They all wore bracelets branded with different names. All were supposed to give them to someone in New York, on the instructions of an artist Shaffer had never met. They were in New York for a week. The trip's focus was "music relief,'' distributing instruments, music stands and sheet music and playing for New York schools, said Deborah Price, a local musician who helped organize the effort. Shaffer didn't play, so she helped distribute the materials. Others on the trip became intent on sending the bracelets on their way. "Here I had raised all this money and brought these instruments, and the bracelets took up all my time,'' Price said. While the others on the trip connected, Shaffer struggled to find the right person to give her bracelet. Two days before she was to leave, she met a firefighter at Engine House No. 1. She asked to hug him. When she did, she sobbed. She cries now talking about that moment. "I don't even know what his name was,'' she said. Having found her connection, Shaffer returned to the station the next night to give the firefighter her bracelet. A different firefighter approached her: "Can I help you?'' She explained the bracelet stamped "Deputy Chief Ray Downey.'' This man had known Downey, and his wife, who was at the station, is friends with Downey's daughter and teaches one of Downey's grandchildren. She said she'd make sure that the Downey family got the bracelet. So Shaffer -- who was not a member of St. John's, who had not known about the bracelets a week before, who just happened to walk into Engine House No. 1, who happened to connect with a random firefighter who happened to work with another firefighter whose wife taught members of the Downey family -- had put the bracelet where it belonged. But that's not all. Watching a TV special sometime later, she heard former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani refer to a bracelet he was wearing that said "Deputy Chief Ray Downey.'' She saw former President Clinton was wearing one, too. Then Shaffer, who had left her address with the firefighter to whom she gave the bracelet, received a letter from Rosalie Downey, Ray Downey's widow. "Thanks for the bracelet. I had about 1,000 bracelets made after I received yours. My husband, Deputy Chief Ray Downey, has not been found, but the name will always be remembered. God Bless You, Rosalie.'' The family had been passing the bracelets around in high places, said Marie Downey, Ray Downey's daughter. Actor Robert DeNiro, New York Yankees manager Joe Torre and New York Rangers captain Mark Messier also have bracelets etched with Ray Downey's name, she said. Marie Downey said she was "blown away'' that Shaffer had wandered into Engine House No. 1 and found someone who could deliver the bracelet. "There are 10,000 firemen in New York City, and she finds one whose wife is a friend of mine,'' Downey said. On April 13, Shaffer met the Downey family at a memorial dinner in Indianapolis. She learned of the event on the Internet and went to pay tribute to a man who made so many connections possible. "We were overwhelmed,'' Marie Downey said of her family's meeting with Shaffer. "She didn't even know us. She touched our hearts, and she started a trend.'' Ray Downey, 63, was the city's most-decorated firefighter. His body has not been recovered, Marie Downey said. A court declared him dead on Monday. In Shaffer's Sept. 11 scrapbook, she now has a photo of herself surrounded by the Downey family. She is convinced that the photo was bound to happen. "I'm not religious,'' Shaffer said. "I do think things happen for a reason. There is something out there.''

As a profession firefighters, EMS workers, and police have recieved a great deal of attention and affection from the community since the great loss of life of 9-11-01. There is NO doubt that those who died on that day and all those who have given their lives since in the service of their fellow man deserve the honor they are recieving. I think most recently of the 2 firefighters killed in Pittsburgh. However, I hope that it is not for this attention that we as FF's or EMS workers do our job. Let us continue to do our job for the same reason FDNY's 343 did their job. For the love of service to our fellow man. It is in so doing we will then deserve the honor our brothers now are recieving. God Bless to all of them, and all of us who wear the badge on our chest and memories of our fallen brothers in our hearts.

Hi Vicki: Have been thinking about you a lot lately. And I see that the cowards have struck again at the Atocha Station in Madrid. I took several commuter trips from that station in 1997. His horrible bombing brings back the terrible memory of 9/11/01 in our USA. And now because Spain is one of our devoted allies they have to experience the cowardly act too. God Bless the families of those who were killed.

I purchased a 9/11 bracelet in Oct. '02 with Flight Attendant Jean Roger on it. I'm a Flight Attendant and wore it to work just about every day. A few months back I decided I wanted another bracelet with all of the flight crew from all 4 flights (flight attendants and pilots alike). I wore Jean Roger's name with pride, now I will wear all of my hero's on my wrist.......for they were the first to die that day. They will never be forgotten by me in my lifetime, thank you.

Dearest Vicki Last year we had a brief correspondence with regards to me obtaining a bracelet, way back in August 2003. Nothing happened and I didn't order one - instead I placed a link on my website to yours. On the 29th November 2003 - i received an email from a Lieutenant Joe McCarthy of Southold Fire Department Long Island,FDNY, saying he was visiting Australia in 2004 and had seen my post on your site in August 2003 and would like to bring a remembrance bracelet for me. Yesterday -25th January 2004 - Joe arrived with many gifts for me - but the last gift he gave that had me crying was one of your bracelets. Joe has the same bracelet he gave me. The name on the bracelet is Father Mychal Judge FDNY Chaplain. When Joe gave me the bracelet he said that Father Judge was the first official fatality of 9/11 (something of course I already knew) but then he said "I think it's appropriate that Father Judge went first because he was then there to guide the others". As I sit here a million miles across the ocean in a place called Australia, tears welling in my eyes again.... I again THANK YOU for your angelic assistance in helping keep the memories alive of those who America lost on that tragic day 9/11/01... and I THANK my 'angels' Lieutenant Joe McCarthy for bringing to me my 'other angel' the bracelet with Father Mychal Judge's name. I will wear it always, in remembrance of all who were taken on that day - '....they died in the service of a noble calling.....' and they will always be remembered!! Thank you so very much Vicki.... and thank you to Lieutenant Joe McCarthy Southold Fire Dept FDNY Trish

I got my 9-11 memorial bracelet on the two year anniversary of that day. I did not know or lost anyone on that day, but feel that as an American, we should never forget what happened, and how we felt on that day. My bracelet is for Capt. Victor Saracini, of US flight 175. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all the rest of the families struck that day. I work in surgery and have a lot of EMS, fire and police friends, and see how they suffered on 9-11. I have only taken my bracelet off when I have to, due to work requirements. I think everyone should have something to remind us, every day, of the horror of 9-11-01. Thank you for providing a fine product.

It's been two years since the tragic day of September 11, 2001 and America still remembers. America will never forget. It's a sad day for not only America, but for the world as well, to reflect on how evil mankind has become to their fellow man. The death and destruction of September 11, 2001 was not over religious fanatism, but of hatred for America and all that it stands for. Are we, as Americans, perfect? No, not hardly. But Americans live in the most properous and free society in the entire world today. To try to blend the terrorist events of September 11, 2001 into a religous cause is wrong. The Muslim religion does not perscribe to the death and destruction that was brought on by Osama bin Laden and his crazed followers. May we, as humans, supposedly the most intelligent beings currently inhabiting this planet, learn to try to build friendships and relationships based on the love of our fellow man and what each individual can bring to life on earth. May we pray for the thousands of souls who tragically lost their lives on Tuesday, September 11, 2001. Amen.

I received my bracelet today, and when my wife saw it, she wanted me to order two more for my boys, which I just did. As well as being a fire lieutenant/paramedic, I was a responder to the WTC attacks with the Arkansas 1 Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) and we worked and talked with many of the FDNY, NYPD, PAPD, and FDNY*EMS personnel. I told my team that even though we had to leave the site when our rotation was through, that we were taking part of the victims home with us...to remember that we were breathing in the ashes of these beloved people, and there would always be a part of them inside us. God Bless America.

I received a bracelet from a friend who is a FF. I wore it for over a year. A close friend, who means alot to me asked me about it a couple of times. He said he keeps meaning to get one. I asked if he would wear it if he had one. He said of course. I explained that the bracelet I wore had special meaning because it came from a dear friend. I took it off and placed it on his wrist. He wears it to this day. He is a FF, and a USMC reservist. I would like to purchase a duplicate if possible. All I remember is the paramedics name is Ricardo Quinn. Is that possible? Please let me know. And thank you so much for your service. I returned my POW/MIA bracelet recently to the family. I appreciate being able to show my continued support for my country by wearing my bracelet! Thank You!

I just finished reading the guestbook and am blinking back tears (again). A Romanian journalist wrote that the chorus of united voices immediately after 9-11 was the sound of "the heavy artillery of the American spirit"... seems to me I can hear that sound here as well. Thanks, Vicky, for doing what Americans do best: turning tragedy into an opportunity to make the world a better place. I can't wait to put my bracelet on.

It has been a little over a year since I first put my two Bracelets on, (and I have never taken them off, not even for a second), they are somewhat scratched and the flag has worn off of one, but they still look good and people often ask about them. I'm not sure when or if I'll ever take them off, the Bracelets are a great way to honor the many victims of that horrible day. Ronald Kloepfer 'N.Y.P.D.', and Thomas DeAngelis 'F.D.N.Y.' are the names I wear, I never knew them, but they are our brothers all the same.

My apologies to Vicki, Teri and everyone else that I may have offended by the comment that I left in this guestbook on (April 3, 2003). I had read some of the other comments left by those searching for a particular bracelet and gave some information without thinking that it may have offended anyone. I was merely trying to help out. Vickie, "My Apologies" for not being more sensitive, I in no way meant any disrespect or harm to your or potential customers. Please remove my entry from your guestbook…Regards, C.Albright

I think it is very rude of people to advertise another site here before Vicki has decided if she will be making other bracelets. She has worked very hard since 9/11 to get these bracelets out to all of us who ordered them. Giver her a chance to decide if new bracelets are feasable.

Hi! I am also looking for braclets for indivduals now serving their country overseas. I have several friends who have loved ones on ships and in Kuwait right now and I thought I would be a nice gesture to purchase a braclet with their son/daughter name on it -- I had one when my brother was overseas during Desert Storm, but I cannot find where I purchased this braclet - can you give me information or do you do this? Please let me know. Thanks.

Do you do bracelets for our soldiers that are now serving? Like we had in Vietnam MIA's and the bracelets that we were for desert storm. I am a publisher of a newspaper and trying to find a source where we can get bracelets with local soldiers names on them, showing our support and then send them to them when they come home. pam nelson

Hi, Vicki- Just wanted to thank you for my bracelet. I've been wearing it for almost a year now, and it looks as good as the day I received it from you. I only take it off to go to sleep at night, but I wear it every single day. I had it personalized with the name of my childhood friend, FF Timothy Welty, Squad 288 FDNY, and thanks to you, I feel like he is with me wherever I go. I brings me such comfort to be able to wear his name and carry him with me like my own guardian angel. God Bless you for all that you've done!

Thank you, Vicki, for providing this bracelet. Capt. Pat Brown and I grew up together in Queens Village. Until now, all I had to remember Patty was a memorial card and years of teenage memories. It has taken me over a year to decide exactly what else I could or would do, if anything; a picture, a tattoo, etc. I found out about you several months ago through a link from the NYFD web page. The bracelets caught my eye, and I kept coming back to look again and again, and tonight I began reading through your guestbook. Once I started I couldn't stop. The comments from firefighters like me, and their families convinced me that this was the most fitting way to memorialize not only Pat Brown, but all who made the Supreme Sacrifice on September 11th. I am anxious to receive, and will be very proud to wear this bracelet.

I thought I would let you all know that there is a wonderful WTC rememberance book that will soon be available called "Sounds of Silence". It was put out as a labor of love by two nice ladies, Melissa Darnay and Debbie Ciavola, from Texas. The book is all about those wonderful souls we lost on September 11th, and in the words of their loved ones. It is done through grief letters, but there are also memorials and poems in the book as well. You can order the book, which costs $14.95, through Amazon.com, or through the ladies website: www.tearstoheaven.org. All the proceeds benefit the families of the victims, through aid grants and scholarships. The ladies are operating on a shoe-string budget, so they could use all of our support. The book is incredibly moving, and it includes the poem and memorial I wrote for my dear friend Joyce Ann Carpeneto. Thanks so much.

Another excellent website to check for more information about a person whose name is on your bracelet is september11victims.com. Each victim has a profile, where messages and tributes can be left. The site also includes poems, songs, where you can make a donation, etc. Absolutely one of the best WTC memorial sites on the web.

Mr Barcus (I use Mr loosely). --- PLEASE have a little respect! Did you not see the beginning of this site that said 100% of proceeds go to the families of the victims?? I knew a few people in the Gulf war-- one of them is scarred for life, both literally and figuratively, but I also now have friends that had to leave the country again due to 9-11. How can you be so selfish? I may be a smalltown person, but at least I have some self respect. I am truly sorry for those you lost in the Gulf, but really... if you know how it made you feel then, imagine the families now. Don't you suppose that remebering and memorializing should be a good thing instead of bitter? I'm truly disappointed that this attack on our own country didn't cause more people to stop and think about what is really important in life... it is heartbreaking to think that, in your opinion, all these people died so that someone could capitalize on it. You need a serious reality check! People lose lives every day, and if one person actually takes the time to make an impact by doing something out of the goodness of their heart to show their patriotism-- in this case-- and love for humanity and country-- then maybe you should take notes instead of so readily criticize what you wish you had taken the time to do yourself. I hope someday you learn what the Constitution stands for and how many people our country lost trying to preserve your right to be who you are today.

In a tribute to 9/11/01 by our local paper I saw a picture of a woman holding a bracelet bearing a victims' name. I became obsessed with finding where those bracelets are and this search led me to your site. I want to say thank you for the site, the opportunity to just be able to purchase and wear one of these bracelets. It is a great honor since I believe in my heart the real heroes were on flight 93 that fateful day. I am not belittling the other victims or any such fool notion. In my heart of hearts and in my prayers, I pray for us all. Living and gone. These people on this particular flight have a section of my heart that I cannot even explain. They gave all.....they ALL gave all and thank God Almighty for them. It makes me feel so small and insignificant in the "big picture" because I am not able to do anymore than this. My prayers are with the families who have lost loved ones, the families of the rescue workers, and us all as a nation. May God bless us with love for one another, peace at heart, and watch over us while we continue to heal and strengthen. Connie & Burl Richmond, IN

I odered my two bracelets last winter I contiune to check this message book to see how people have reacted to this. The unity that this has brought is a wonderful thing to see with the excepts of a few ignorant people everyone agrees that we are proud to wear these bracelets of brave men and women god bless all of you and remember and honor all who have died. I wrote this the week after 9/11/01 To save the life of another in the eyes of your own defeat is to bring honor and respect to yourself and the ones you may have left behind. For the rest of us who have seen these unselfish acts of kindness and bravery it gives us something else something that puts a brightlight in this darktime. HOPE.

I still have my MIA bracelet from the Viet Nam war. I was only a teenager - but I remember those lost. I lost a friend of 22 years on flt 77 who flew in Viet Nam and crash landed his own plane(s) five times. He was also one of the first who applied to the space program in the early sixties. I will proudly wear his name on my wrist until I die. God Bless You, and may God Bless the United States of America.

Dear MR Barcus, You are the most shallowminded jackass ive ever has the displeasure of reading. There is a saying which applys to you." Its better to be thought stupid, than to open your mouth and prove it.If you werent so stupid you would realize the impact these bracelets have on all of us who lost loved ones, for we wear them proudly everyday. As for you What have you done besides display your pessimistic attide to Vicki and i cant imagine how mant countless others you have bashed. You see if it wasnt for Vickis kindness and other countless caring AMERICANS they have helped with their giving and countless sacrifice of their time.I am truly sorry for your loss of loved ones in the gulf but maybe if you read Vickis homepage you could get memorial bracelets for any person you desire including your lost loved ones.So maybe you need to think about the sacrifice your loved ones made for their country and maybe it will inspire you to do some good in this world and stop bashing the people in this world who are doing a little good for some familys.

Mr. Barcus: I tried to E-mail you about your very crude remarks about "Bracelets For America". Vicki Schult is a personal friend of mine. I have helped her at different times sending out the bracelets. She operates out of her HOME with only volunteer help. Her daughters and their friends have been using this as their Service project at their High School. Yes, Desert Storm was a terrible war, and yes all of America owes the men a debt of gratitude. The awful thing that happened on 9/11/2001 affected every soul in America and we are still seeing the reprecussions. How could you attack someone who is only trying to help in some small way. Too bad you are such a coward that you were not accepting any E-mails.

Mr. Barcus: EVERY person who lost their life on September 11th is a hero! Vicki Schult is doing a tremendous service to all of the victims families by selling bracelets and donating EVERY PENNY to WTC charities. She's doing it on her own time, and I AM VERY PROUD to call her my friend. I lost a dear friend named Joyce Ann Carpeneto in the attacks, and Vicki has brought me and her family such comfort by selling, or donating to the families, a beautiful bracelet with Joyce's name on it. Don't put her down because she wasn't selling bracelest during Desert Storm. She is doing a wonderful thing for all of us who lost a loved one last September 11th. GOD BLESS YOU VICKI!

excuse me mr. barcus ..you are being very rude . my friends that died in the WTC attacks are just as much hero's as the men and women we have lost through out history in every war we have been in .. so .. i am so sick and tired of hearing crap from people that know nothing about the people who died . and also vicki does not make any money doing this she donates all profits to FDNY families and by the way what do you do ,, have you given a penny to any of the families ... have you donated any time to raise money i guess not you are the typical liberal that sits on his butt on a couch and complains about every little thing that you can think of .. mr barcus i am sure you were there and lost friends also .. but you don't understand that was a war were we should have not been .. We have been attacked on our own soil people that did not deserve to die . those firefighter's and police officer's did not have to go into those tower's but they did for 1 purpose and that was to save lives and that they did before they lost there lives . and by the way i wear 2 diffrent bracelets with pride capt. terry hatton rescue 1 and joe angilini rescue 1 . and i have only 1 more thing to say to you mr. barcus . if you don't like the way things are going than you and the rest of the people like the clintons' rosie , al gore , and the other liberals in this country can all get your tickets and board your flights for somewhere other than the USA and don't let the airplane door hit you were the good lord split ya! PS. if i have affended any viet nam vets it was not my intentions ,, just to let mr barcus no that we i will not stand for stupidity .... GOD REST THE SOULS OF SEPT 11th

My Son has done two tours in the gulf since. I have two nephews who are prime for the next war comming. Where are the braclets for the friends I lost? I know there was not much money to be made then. IN 1988 I lost a partner and a friend in the line of duty. I have always had a bracelet with his name on it. Several years ago the bracelets made by the current Vendor changed the metal. The metal was bad and bends quickly. These braclets fall apart and are costly. I set out to find a new company and found three companies. "BRaCLETS FOR AMERICA" is one. When I got all three I found the braclet from this company is the best qualtiy and best price. I was highly pleased and have ordered three more from Vickie as "back ups" in case I break one or loose one. Vickie is also a real nice person which makes her easy to work with. Some people at LAPD who have seen my new bracelet with "Manuel Gutierrez" name engraved on it with the black letters love it! Thanks so much to your company and helping me keep him alive in my heart and memories! I will gladly pass on your company to all officers within the Los Angles Police Dept! Thanks Again! Dear Vicki: I lost my two brothers, Lt. Harvey L. Harrell, FDNY, Rescue 5 and Lt. Stephen G. Harrell, FDNY, L157/E255 on that horrible day. Our lives will never be the same. New York, even when they will rebuild, this event will always be in the shadows of our lives for eternity. My brothers were indeed the "greatest heroes" not just on 9-11 but since my birth. The outreach of the "American hearts" was and still is nice to see that people do care. New Yorkers just don't walk down the street like they did before. They still tend to their business but now they look over their shoulders, behind their backs and take notice of what's going on around them, more now than ever. Americans once again are asked to stand "United" and protect our greatest gift next to love, "Our Freedom". We need to take care of each other and never let those lives of our loved ones go invane. Vicki, your bracelets are true treasures of the heart. Everyone who wears them, no matter whose name(s) are on them, "Try not to think of the ending, for few are good and cannot be changed", "Think of the good times" and you are sure to find "peace in your hearts".

I just found this site and immediately ordered bracelets of the two friends lost on 9-11. FF Tommy Hetzel, and Paramedic Keith Fairben. These will be worn with love and pride every day of my life! Our son was born on 9-12, so even though he will never get the chance to meet them both, he will meet and know them through memories. He will also know the reasons why these men passed, and be as proud of them as his father and I are! It was an honor to know them both!

Vicki, We at Engine 201 would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of the help you have given in getting all four members of 201 who perished on 9/11 onto one beautiful bracelet (Lt. Paul Martini, FF's John Schardt, Greg Buck, and Chris Pickford). As the house is known as "The Emerald Isle", the shamrock was a nice touch. The initial order of 60 has gone so fast, that we will be placing another order very soon. The first bracelet that I purchased several months ago with the name of a good friend, John Chipura of E-219, has held up extremely well despite wearing it even while working at the firehouse. I expect nothing less from this new one. Thank you again and may god bless you for all of your unselfish acts of kindness. DEAR VICKI, I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR THE LATEST ORDER OF BRACELETS- THE ONES WITH ALL LADDER 7 NAMES ON THEM.. THEY WERE FABULOUS. I BROUGHT THEM TO THE FIREHOUSE THE OTHER DAY. THE GUYS LOVED THEM. THEY THOUGHT IT WAS SUCH A GREAT IDEA HAVING ALL THE NAMES. THANKS TO YOU FOR MAKING IT POSSIBLE. ALSO, ON THE ONES WITH GEORGES NAME, MY BROTHER WAS WEARING AN ORIGINAL ONE FROM A VIET NAM VET--WORE IT FOR 30 YEARS.. HE NEVER TOOK IT OFF--UNTIL I GAVE HIM THE ONE WITH GEORGES NAME. NOW HE WEARS THAT ONE. HE REMOVED THE OTHER ONE WITH TEARS IN HIS EYES AND SAID-"THIS ONE MEANS EVEN MORE"...THANK YOU AGAIN AND GOD BLESS YOU FOR ALL THE PEACE YOU HAVE BROUGHT TO THE BROKENHEARTED FAMILIES... '

I'm a volunteer Firefighter/medic from Lancaster, PA. On the day of 9-11-01 I was in total disbelief as I saw fellow brothers ans sisters lost to such a tragedy on our own homefront. At the time I was finishing Paramedic school with 12 other wonderful people. 4 days after the event we took our state finals and our promise was to honor those fallen by becoming paramedics on our 1st try. We succeded in our vow and are looking to take care of our own in any way shape and or form we are able to do. We will also be there for anything else these dam terrorists wish to bring our way. We may have been weakend but, NOT beaten. Our courage in the past at places like Anzio, Iwo Jima and many others like it show that we have the pride, and the commitment to see our goals to end world terrorrism.

My sister goes to a small Catholic grade school in Kenilworth,NJ. After seeing her bracelet many of her fellow 3rd grades said they would like one. So I went and order 40 Bracelets. I handed them out to the students and some teachers and before long they were all gone and there were still people who wanted one. I went and ordered 50 more braceletes to give out. It is amazing to see the reaction these bracelets get. Each class is praying every morning for the firefighters whose names are on the bracelets. Each child reads off the name they have. It is a touching thing to see.

Received my order last week of 40 bracelets for my older daughter's 4th Grade class. It was so touching to see the names on the bracelets; I found biographies for 37 of them on the Web and will send those also. This project has brought 9/11 into sharp focus for me, and I know that the children will treasure their mementos. Incidentally, the bracelets are beautiful and the packaging was perfect, making them well worth the price. A very precious way to pay tribute to the victims - I'm so glad that Vicki made this possible.

At first I was going to ignore the "they cost too much" comment, but then felt I had to write. I've bought about 90-100 bracelets from Vicki (55 of them for Kristen Montanaro)and think the fee is absolutely perfect. What many DO NOT know, is that Vicki does this whole operation from her living room, and takes NO SALARY for this!!! She's done over 25,000 bracelets, with all profit being donated....ALL FROM HER LIVING ROOM FOR FREE!!! I don't know a better way to memorialize my friend than these bracelets...so once again Vicki, Thank you :)

I just want to thank Vicki for everything that she has done. She probably will never know how many lives that she has touched. If the world had more people like Vicki, maybe this tragedy wouldn't have happened. To the people/person that thinks that the bracelets "R" too expensive and should be lowered to $5, is that how you put a price on life???? You need to go where firefighters spend their time. HELL!! What have you done to help my fallen brothers, their families, and everyone touched by 9-11?? I've got an idea, heaven forbid, your house is on fire, your children are trapped, you need a paramedic, take your $5 and go up the street looking for someone!! I guarantee if you find a fireman, he will help you for free, without thinking of his own life. That's how we are. Will you tell my 2 year old daughter that her fathers life isn't worth $15?? You need to grow up, get a life, read an encyclopedia, and by all means, take an english course. That would help. And until you have done what Vicki has, GET OFF HER BACK!!!

I got your web-site from my cousin, a member of the FDNY, who lost 6 friends from his Academy class. He ordered (and received) braclets with each of their names on them and rotates them daily. I lost a former co-worker on the UA flight. I left my job because of her and many things were unsettled when we parted ways. When she and her fellow passengers sacrificed themselves that day, I regretted not having made amends. I've taken comfort in the knowledge that she is in a better, safer place now and knows the truth of what drove us apart. She also knows that all is forgiven. I will wear her bracelet proudly for having known such a brave woman and to remind myself of the good times we had and to no longer dwell on the bad. I know that's what she would want. Thank you (in advance because I only just ordered it) for giving me the opportunity to wear my friend's name in tribute to her life and heroic, selfless last acts. God Bless America

I would just like to thank Vicki and all those involved with Bracelets for America. Having been personally affected by the tragedy of September 11th, 2001, wearing Vicki's bracelet with my brother David's name on it, a Firefighter with the New York City Fire Department, serves as a constant reminder of just what was lost that awful day. I find myself constantly running my fingers over the bracelet every day, at least 100 times a day. My family and I proudly wear Vicki's beautiful bracelets and for us, they are priceless. Thank you for doing such a wonderful job on them Vicki, and for treating my family like your own family. Your bracelets, kind words, kindness and generosity have been such a comfort to us all. I was in shock when I saw the comment, "they r too expensive". People have lost theirs lives, America has been through a tragic loss. I have experienced losing the closest person to me,(not on sept.11)and I surely would not be complaining about paying 15 dollars to purchase something in their memory. Vicki needs no advice on selling and getting "new" business. She is doing this out of the goodness of her heart, and surely would not take marketing hints from someone who could not write an acceptable sentence in the english language! Keep on selling Vicki! and may America remain by your side!

Kelli, I totally agree with you that the bracelets are wonderful. I have worn mine since January and it is just as nice now as it was when I recieved it. If anyone thinks that $15.00 is to much to spend on this then they are crazy!! Vicki, you are doing a wonderful job and from the emails I exchanged with you, you seem like a wonderful person. You have to be to be doing this on your own time, with your own money. You are not making anything doing this, you do it because you want to and you want a way for people to remember and honor all the wonderful people that lost their lives on that tragic day. PLEASE keep up the good work and know that they are MANY people that support what you are doing and believe in it. God bless you and all the people that support you. Susan

This message is for Carmen who thinks the bracelets are too expensive. Are you kidding me??!! $15 is a small price to pay to remember what our nation lost on 9/11. They are well worth the money. I have been wearing mine non-stop since receiving it in October. It hasn't gotten scratched or tarnished yet. It is definitely worth the moeney. Instead of buying something frivolous with your money like cigarettes, booze, junk food, etc; why don't you drop $15 for a bracelet? It is an investment in a memorial. Don't listen to her Vicki...you are doing a great thing and the price and website are great! Thanks and God Bless, Kelli

yea i have an answer for why you haven't recieved your bracelet yet. the women who is in charge of these is vicki. she started this almost 4 month's ago to raise money for the families of my brother's she has no help she does this on her own out of her house she order's them she packages' them she spends countless hour's trying to get these bracelets out. she is only 1 person trying to help thousands so if you haven't heard from her yet you will . vicki makes no money doing this. all profits go to the families and the rest pays for the bracelets ... so take it easy on vicki you will get your bracelet.

Thank you so much for this site, I stumbled on it by accident. I ordered a bracelet for William "Billy" Sugra, who my mom knew. She was very touched when I gave her the bracelet. Then I found out she gave it to Billy's aunt Betty, who broke down in tears when she saw it. Everyone misses Billy, but his mom is totally devastated, every day the reality is brand new all over again when she realizes he is gone. Please pray for Billy's family and friends, that they would know that he is in a better place, since he can't be here with them. Thank you again.

Hi Sally; I saw your message asking Vicki for info on Juliana McCourt. I also have Juliana on my bracelet...I requested to have her on my bracelet because her story touched me so deeply. She was 4 years old and traveling with her mother to go to Disneyland in California. Her godmother was also going but she was traveling on a different flight; on a different airline. Sadly and ironically; her flight hit the North Tower and Juliana and her mother's flight hit the South Tower. Unbelievable, isn't it? I've attached a web page link with a brief story and her picture. There is also a story in Reader's Digest (I think it's the November issue). I am terrified to fly and had to travel by plane in December. I did so by praying to my little guardian angel, Juliana. I really believe that she is my new guardian angel. She kept me safe in December. I pray (and cry) for Juliana almost every day. It breaks my heart to think of this truly innocent victim along with all of the others. I hope that now that you know her story, you will say a special prayer for her too. Feel free to contact me if you want any more information. God Bless, Kelli Frehmel http://legacy.com/LegacyTribute/Tribute.asp?Page=TributeStory&PersonId=91677

I am a Paramedic in Louisiana and I would like to say that I think these bracelets are well done. I bought one the other day (just picked it at random from several that were available). The name on it is David Sullins; he was an EMT who worked for worked for Cabrini Medical Center in NYC. Once I got online and looked up an article on him it kind of hit home when I realized that he and I had several things in common (both young, married, with two small children). My heart goes out to his family and to all who lost loved ones in the terrorist attacks. May God Bless them all. I encourage everyone to buy one of these bracelets and wear them with bride to honor the people who sacrificed their lives to save others.

What a wonderful page. One of my friends lost his only daughter, Deora Bodley, on Flight 93. I put up a memorial "Light a Candle for Deora" page (www.swe.californiaschools.net/deora/) for him and have just heard from a lovely woman who bought a bracelet from this site and chose to have Deora's name on it. Somehow she also found our Candle page and wrote a note. I'm sure we will be ordering some bracelets when I talk to Deora's father, but I wanted to thank you for this wonderful site now. It is both informative and touching.

I found these bracelets through one of the Fire Department sites. I simply sent a question regarding personalizing the bracelet, to have one with my niece and nephews'Uncle's name on it. He was one of the 343 firefighters who heroically gave their lives on September 11th. I sent an e-mail asking about having one with his name and received a response from Vicki, who graciously extended her offer of bracelets to the family members. I cannot say enough about this kind woman. She immediately sent what she had and I offered more, if we needed them. This is just an extraordinary example of the gracious souls who have helped support families who lost so much that day. I cannot thank her enough and cannot wait to send these off to my sister-in-law, brother, niece, and nephews. Vicki is a terrific person with a terrific heart. God Bless her...I know my sister-in-law and her family will treasure this kindness, more than anyone could possibly know. Thanks, Vicki!

I think that these bracelets are a great wsy to remeber those lost on 9-11. I am an EMT with the Kenilworth Fire Dept. Rescue Squad and went with them to Hoboken the morning of 9-11. That is a day that will never be forgotten. I like the fact that you not only remeber the the firefighters and police but also all the people who lost their lives in the towers and planes that hit them. Kenilworth lost three people that morning and we are still feeling the pain. I ordered a bracelet for myself, my mother, and my brother. We will wear them with pride and remember those whose names are on them all those who lost their lives that fateful day.

Vicki, Great minds think alike. I wanted something to remember all the victims of 09/11/01 so I had a special bracelet made that says NEVER FORGET 09/11/01 Washington DC, New York, Pennsylvenia. I wear it all the time and have gotten many positive comments on it. The bracelet is very similar to the one I wore in Jr. High with the name of a POW on it. I was one of the lucky ones, my POW came home and I sent the bracelet to him. He seemed very glad to get it, especially when I wrote and told him I prayed for him every day. I only wish those we lost on 09/11/01 could come home too. Congradulations on a great idea. Regarfds, Mary Janette

I have to say that Vicki is an amazing person. I live in NYC and my friend Kristen Montanaro died on the 93rd Floor of WTC Tower 1, and Vicki has supplied me with as many bracelets as I've needed. I've had to order 25 so far, as her family is overwhelmed with pride (as I am) to wear these. We never want anyone to forget that Kristen was a person too. She might not have been a firefighter or a cop, but she died that day doing her job too. I haven't taken mine off since the day I got the first shipment in. Anyone that knew Kristen and sees my bracelet wants one. I've also knew a few of the FDNY that died, and have ordered some bracelets for their family. I can't stop thanking you enough, Vicki!!! A++++

I have made lifelong friends with the family of the fallen firefighter whose bracelet I wear. Having this bracelet reminds me every day how grateful I am to be an American and how much so many people have sacrificed so that I can live in freedom. I am so proud that these bracelets are the idea of someone from Shreveport, LA. Good job, Vicki! This is what my new friend in New York had to say about her bracelet (I sent some to her and to her family in memory of her brother)... We got your bracelets Saturday (I got mine yesterday from my parents). Thank you soooo much! They're awesome! I haven't taken mine off yet, don't know if I ever will. I also got a lot of responses from friends that I had forwarded the web address of the bracelets too, and so many people are gonna buy some. So thanks again, because you have now spread the joy you got from one bracelet, to many many more other people.

I think what you are doing is GREAT! What is most amazing, to me, is that you personally take the time to thank people for ordering! It's so nice to buy something on-line that is actually acknowledged by a "real person". I am from the smallest State in the Union (RI) and we had two residents on Flight 11 and this is my FIFTH purchase! What I like best about your ordering, is that the money is 100% for charity.
